Evelyn "Jeanne" Sutton

February 12, 1944 — June 30, 2025

Evelyn Regina "Jeanne" Sutton of Artesia NM passed away from this earth on June 30, 2025 at 7:30am in Roswell, at the age of 81. Our Mom, Grandma, Granny, Great Grandma, Aunt and Friend loved life, Artesia and her family.

Jeanne was born on Feb. 12th, 1944 to Ralph and Evelyn Hill in DePauw, Indiana. After WWII her dad came home and the family returned to NM where she attended school in Loco Hills and later moved to Artesia in 1956 with her family, where she graduated from Artesia High School.

Jeanne then achieved her RN degree from Harden-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. She returned to Artesia to begin her nursing career and after her nursing career, she retired from Navajo Refinery.

In her retirement she loved seeing and visiting with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She always wanted to know when you were returning for the next visit before you ever left. Jeanne enjoyed her two beloved fur babies, Spice and Daisy to no end and they were always by her side. She enjoyed spending time in her backyard and keeping her house as colorful and happy as possible.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Evelyn Hill of Artesia, her brother Tommy Hill of Lake Arthur, niece Robbyn Hill of Lake Arthur and longtime partner Carl Waggoner of Loco Hills NM.

Survivors include her three children, Jeff Foy and wife Joy of Capitan NM, Tony Sutton and wife Stacy of Artesia, Rene Hope and husband Mark of Artesia. Grandchildren, Brandi Edri of Ft. Worth TX, Scott Foy of Artesia, Skyler Valencia and partner Alyssa of Artesia and Nikayla Sutton of Artesia, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as her longtime friend Linda Jackson of Artesia.

The family would like to thank Mom's home care nurse Yoli, J&J Home Care, Mom's Hospice nurse Yvonne, Enhabit Hospice, and the entire staff at Genesis for their unwaivering care, help and support they have shown to mom and our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Artesia, date and time to be determined.
