With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our precious mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, friend, aunt and wife, Esther Rodriguez.
Mom was born September 26, 1936 in Artesia and died peacefully at home surrounded by her family September 19, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes & Manuel Garcia, her sister Lupe Hernandez, her brother Alfred Garcia and granddaughter Rebecca Rodriguez.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Willie Rodriguez, son, Deacon Richard Rodriguez (Velma), Shirley Gonzales (Andy), and Helen Williams (Bobby). Mom is also survived by her loving sisters Elma Samora, Mary Padilla (Frank) and Estella Flores (Albert). She was a loving and doting grandmother to Richard Rodriguez (Allison), Danny Galindo Jr., Subrina Galindo, Albert Galindo (Angela), Serena Galindo (Hailey), and Chris Rodriguez (Ronnie). She adored and loved her great grandkids, Marisol Galindo, Arayah Hernandez, Danny Galindo, 3rd, Kylie Mendoza,, Adriel Hernandez, Siera Rosales, Ben Hernandez, Hector Hernandez, Saniyah Hernandez, Cooper Galindo, Ariah Dehoyas,& Miciah Genoa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Mom enjoyed baking, gardening, tending to her numerous plants and flowers. She loved dancing and participated in line dancing performing at various functions. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, walking with her friends and grandkids. Mostly she relished family gatherings and spending time with family.
Mom was involved in our lives as children for various school functions. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts, catechism teacher in Lake Arthur. She ran the burrito booth at the yearly church fiesta for many years, involving family members creating a wonderful memory for all.
Mom worked for many years at Yates and EOG as a housekeeper and supervisor.
Mom had strong faith instilled by our grandmother and passed this faith to her children and grandchildren.
The family extends a heartful thank you to Delia Olguin, Luz Muniz, Lola Hernandez, Sylvia Hernandez, Rosie Garcia and aunt Estella for your unwavering help, love and support. We also thank Dr. Matt Kaiser and Enhabit Hospice staff for their compassion.
The family also extends a big thank you to all the family and friends who have been so supportive during this difficult and sorrowful time. Your presence, calls, thoughts, prayers comforted us during this difficult and sorrowful time.
