Essie Juarez

Graveside services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Essie Hernandez Juarez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Juarez, 87, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room.

Pallbearers will be Tony Huerta, Chava Flores, Chava Flores, Jr., Brady Flores, Cooper Flores,and Jaycob Huerta.

Ms. Essie was born February 10, 1928 in Artesia, New Mexico; the daughter of George Hernandez and Martina (Garcia) Hernandez. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On June 6, 1948 she was married to Ismael Juarez in Artesia. He preceded her in death October 31, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had worked in the emergency room and then at several doctors offices. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church and enjoyed to embroider.

Survivors include her daughters Shirley Flores and husband Chava of Artesia, and Susan Huerta of Artesia; sons Alfred Juarez and wife Rosalinda of Midland, TX, and Ismael Juarez of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters Cruz Alvarado of Artesia, and Florence Diaz of Artesia.
