Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 6 at First Christian Church for Erma Cotner of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Cotner, 83, died Monday, August 3, 1998 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia. Rev. Dale Andrews will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Levi Stone, Jim Price, John Lanning, Carroll French, Kenneth Dickson and Sam Karr. Honorary pallbearers will be Wiley Rountree, Roy David Shoemaker, Jim Bly, John McGee, Leonard Witcher and Jim Willoughby. Mrs. Cotner was born January 22, 1915 in Belle, Missouri; the daughter of William Bransford Barbarick and Emma Gertrude Cahill. On October 23, 1937 she was married to Marvin Cotner in Eldon, Missouri. They came to New Mexico in 1953 from Missouri and to Artesia in 1955. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church; the Christian Womens Fellowship; the Eddy County Extension Club and the Artesia General Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Medford Barbarick, and a sister Ruby Picker. Survivors include her husband Marvin Cotner of the family home; a son Gary Cotner of Collinsville, Okla. daughters Barbara Price of Sedalia, Colorado, Nancy Cotner of Albuquerque, N.M. and Betty Ann Stone of Odessa, Texas; sisters Mabel Smith of Columbia, Missouri and Ogle Willoughby of Owensville, Missouri; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
