Services for Eddie Sellers will be held at 10 am. on Wednesday, October 13, at West Main Baptist Church. Jason Kraft will officiate the service with an interment to follow at woodbine cemetery. Eddie Sellers, 63, beloved Husband, Father, Son, Uncle, and Grandpa, was called to his eternal resting place on October 5th, 2021, in Artesia, NM.
Eddie was born on January 19th, 1958, to Earnest and Jackie Sellers. He later became the son of Harvey Thomas. Eddie grew up in Southeast New Mexico. From the age of twelve, he began working on his family's water well drilling rig. Thus, he became the fourth generation in the family to pursue a carrier in the drilling industry.
Eddie spent much of his life traveling and working throughout the United States. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers before spending time in the 90s in New England. In 2004 he decided it was time to relocate from California to New Mexico. Once in New Mexico, he made immense and invaluable contributions in the Oil & Gas industry, earning the well-earned nickname of Tall Boy. In 2015 Eddie formed Sellers and Fulton Oilfield Service, where he produced oil wells on the shelf. He invested in countless young men to teach them all he had learned in the 40 plus years in the field. After retiring from the oil patch, Eddie continued to ranch his family's ranch in Western New Mexico. He could always be found hauling cattle and building fences. In recent years Eddie journeyed alongside his Martin boys in their Water Well businesses adventure, volunteering as their shop supervisor.
On February 14th, 2019, he married the love of his life Joanna Martin (Kiss), in Artesia, New Mexico. He spent the remainder of his time with us, telling everyone he saw how much he loved his "baby doll." There was not a day that went by that he didn't brag to anyone; he saw how remarkable life was and how truly blessed he was.
Eddie loved spending his free time fishing, hunting, reloading bullets and was an avid collector of auction treasures. He loved to travel and had traveled to forty-nine different states. Eddie had a love of classic cars and enjoyed restoring them for local parades. Eddie loved to spend time with his family and was always the first person in the room to hug you and share his warming smile.
Pallbearers will include Jared Deason, Josh Sellers, Shawn Martin, Cody Martin, B.C. Martin and Billy Drake. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie's grandchildren.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Sellers, Stepfather Harvey Thomas. Daughter Angie Sellers, and grandson Colton Thacker.
Survivors included: Joanna Sellers of the family home. Mother Jackie Sellers of Artesia, Sister Kandy Lopez of Deming, NM, Brother James Sellers and wife Callie Sellers of Roswell, Brother Larry Sellers and wife Joni of Greenwood, TX Son Shawn Martin and wife Amanda of Artesia, Son Cody Martin and wife Crystal of Artesia, Son B.C. Martin and wife Megan of Artesia, daughter Kassandra Smedley of Artesia, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Eddie was one in a million and will be missed dearly by all that knew him and were blessed to be a part of his life. We are all better people because we were blessed to know him and be loved by him.
Donations can be made in memory of Eddie to Victory Life Fellowship and Saint Vincents community food bank.
