Dorothy Ashton

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 20 at Woodbine Cemetery for Dorothy Tess Ashton, 712 Bullock Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Rev. Don Johnston will officiate at the services Mrs. Ashton, 79, died Saturday, March 16, 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mrs. Ashton was born September 19, 1922 in Shamrock, Texas; the daughter of Andy Robert Compary and Eula Wooten Compary. She came to Artesia in 1926 from Texas. On July 25, 1944 she was married to Franklin Otto Ashton, Jr. in Ogden, Utah. Her husband preceded her in death November 12, 2001. She was a retired co-owner and operator A.C. Liquor Store, the Dairy Queen and Artesia Discount Company. She was affiliated with the National Association of Investment Clubs and was recognized for three consecutive years for choosing the U.S. growth company of the year. Survivors include her son Andy Franklin Ashton of Scottsdale; a sister Margaret Compary Worthington of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of choice.
