Obituary

David De La Rosa, Jr, 52, known to many as Double D, passed away on October 6, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1974, to David and Estella (Arenivas) De La Rosa, Sr. in Artesia, New Mexico. He was a longtime Artesia resident and proud member of the Artesia Bulldog Championship football team of '92.

David married Dana Harris on October 5th, 2002, in Artesia. David worked many jobs before coming to the patch, such as a master meat cutter and a Maintenance Tech at the Artesia Housing Authority. David then worked in the oilfield for 20 plus years for Targa Resources.

David was an avid Artesia Bulldog fan and attended or tuned into all their games. He always supported #67 on the field as that was the number he wore when he won a State Championship in 1992. David adored his low-rider super sport 1964 Impala named "Gorgeous". His love of cars came from working on his father's Impala.

David is preceded by parents David and Estelle De La Rosa.

Those left to cherish his memory are Dana De La Rosa, his love for 30 years; his daughter Emily "Changa" Vaughn (Gary) and his daughter Jocelyn "Peety Nana" De La Rosa; his two granddaughters Miley "Poo" and Kaidy Grace "Stinker"; his sister Marissa Villa (Ivan), as well as his niece Mayra "Squinklay" Baggerly (Ellington); his sister Manuela Pena (Gino) and their children Gino, Mirella, Mikayala Echavarria (Isaac), Cora, Addison and Aiden; his in-laws Matt and Robin Janes and their children Madison and Sam; mother and father-in-law David and Gloria Griffin; alongside numerous family members.

Pallbearers: Gary Vaughn, Fred Balencia, Ivan Villa, Gino Pena Sr, Gino Pena Jr, Marcos Cabezuela, Gabriel Cabezuela, Jamie Huitron, Cesar Huitron, Michael Munoz, Fabian Munoz, Patrick Payne, Patrick Gonzales, Rigo Borunda, Roque Gonzalez, Jesse Gallegos, Sy Leyva, Matt Janes, Sam Janes, Aiden Pena, Jason Fisher, Dylan Fisher, and Garret Fisher.

.

Honoree Pallbearers are all his Targa Brothers and his extended oilfield family.
