Cynthia Lee Norburg, 67, passed away on April 18, 2026 at her home in Artesia, New Mexico. She was born on November 22, 1958, to Howard and Mary Lou Prues in Dayton, Ohio.
Cremation is under the direct care of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Cindy lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to warm the hearts of all who knew her.
In the early 1980's, Cindy moved from Ohio to Arizona, where her life truly began to blossom. It was there that she met the love of her life, Steve Norburg. Their connection was instant and enduring, leading to their marriage on April 20, 1985-a day that marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Together, they blended their two families into one, creating a lively and loving household of five.
In 1986, Cindy and Steve purchased their first home in Queen Creek Arizona, where they built decades of cherished memories. Their home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the joyful chaos of family life. In 2007, they embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Artesia, New Mexico. Most recently, in August 2025, they found their forever home in Quemado, New Mexico where they looked forward to enjoying a peaceful and well-earned retirement together.
Cindy had a heart as big as the open sky she loved. An avid horse enthusiast, she was affectionately known as "Ellie Mae" for her unwavering dedication to rescuing and caring for animals in need. No stray or wayward creature was ever turned away-if it needed love, Cindy provided it. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond animals to everyone she met.
Creative and entrepreneurial, Cindy also had a passion for arts and crafts and took pride in owning her own dog grooming business, where she combined her love for animals with her talent and care.
Above all, Cindy treasured her family. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Steve; her two sons, Troy and Mike, her daughter Kristen, and sister, Sandy. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and delighted in the joy of her 2.5 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense happiness.
Cindy will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her generous heart, and the way she made everyone-human or animal-feel loved and safe. Her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
She will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
