Colton Ray Marquez

Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday May 22, 2026 at 10:00AM for Colton Ray Marquez who passed away May 8, 2026 at the tender young age of 33. Colton is a beloved son, father, brother, friend, uncle, cousin, grandson and many more to so many people. Colton was born on June 12, 1992 in Artesia where he lived all his life. He was an oilfield man through and through, always posting pictures and talking about his rigs and the jobs he was doing out there.

Colton loved his sports, Green Bay Packers all the way, baseball, hockey, UFC, every TV in the house was always tuned to a different sport at any given time. He loved watching his daughters and sisters play softball, always so very proud of them. Colton would finish up a 12-hour shift and drive back to town to either watch them play or help coach his daughter’s softball if he could. He enjoyed spending time with his aunts and cousins on Saturday nights playing cards, was funny watching him walk out of the house with his jar of pennies to bet with and walk back in hours later with less pennies cause he lost at betting.

Colton was kind of a computer nerd. He was teaching himself how to code computer programs and build his own computer server. He was always wanting to learn new things about any and everything.

Colton, you have no idea how greatly missed and loved you are. Your light will always shine bright in our lives and our hearts forever.

Colton is preceded in death by grandfather, Anastacio (Andy) Marquez, grandfather, Arnel George Collums, and brother Coby Lane Collums.

Survivors include, daughters Emmalyn and Cayten Marquez, Kallyhan Terry, mother Nina Collums, father Michael Marquez and wife Jennie, sisters, Katrin Marquez and Kamiley Marquez, grandmother Elisa Marquez and Alta Collums, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
