Cecilio Flores

Cecilio "Shorty" Flores, 73, died on May 16, 2025 at his home in Artesia, New Mexico.

He was born on March 30, 1952 in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico; the son of Marcos Flores and Margarita Tarin Flores.

Shorty was a longtime resident of Artesia. On July 26, 1975 he married his honey, Martha Sustaita in El Paso, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2015.

He worked at the Artesia Country Club for many years as a groundskeeper and also for Mack Energy. Even though his work was landscaping, he enjoyed working in his yard and helping others with yard work to relax. He also enjoyed going to the casino, fishing and just about anything else outdoors. He loved spending time with family and friends and was a fulltime grandpa (pipa) after retiring from Mack Energy. Shorty was always willing to help anyone with anything and was well known, loved and respected in Artesia.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include his children Moses Flores and wife Dee, Marybelle Miles and husband BryanMilesand Melissa Flores; a sister Rosa Flores; grandchildren Jaeven Grado, Moses D. Flores, Mia Flores, Janeesa Grado, Moenisa Flores, Chris Miles, Brianna Miles, Allison Miles, Jaethen Grado, Jace Miles, and Madelynn Sanchez; and also by great-grandchildren Connor, Mason, Moses Moesiah, MaLa-Kai, Na-Koa, Lay-La Rose, Aiden, Bryson, Amelia, Dakota and ArLeana.
