Services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, February 25, at Terpening & Son Chapel, Artesia, NM for Cecil Pollard of Hagerman, New Mexico.
Mr. Pollard, 86, died on February 18, 2022 at his home in Hagerman.
Wade Nelson will officate at the services. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Pendergrass, Blake Pollard, Boone Pollard, Brad Pollard, Steve Lamontine, and Greg Pollard. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Nelson, Ralph Pollard, Thelbert Pollard, Clarence Pollard, Condell Pollard and Juanita Whitaker. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 to 6 pm on Thursday.
Cecil was born on October 9, 1935 in Mounds, Oklahoma; the son of Harlan Pollard and Gladys Creason Pollard.
On March 1, 1954 he was married to Yvonne Nelson in Hereford, Texas.
To say that Cecil loved farm life is a real understatement, as he spent all of his 86 years on the farm.
He was honest to a fault. He believed that hard work and determination is what made you successful.
He enjoyed and loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Cecil and Yvonne spent 67 years together, enjoying square dancing, playing pitch and 42 (until the wee hours of the night) with his uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law. Their favorite passtime was driving around the River Farm watching the beautiful wildlife.
Cecil finished every job he ever started. He lived through times when money was scarce, hail storms and droughts, but never quit.
He loved Yvonne with all he had and took care of her until just a few days before his death.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hagerman Joy Center, Hagerman First Presbyterian Church, and Hagerman Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a grandson Charlie Pollard.
Survivors include his wife Yvonne Pollard; sons Bill Pollard and wife Becky, and Tim Pollard and wife Susie; a daughter Debbie Pollard; grandchildren Blake Pollard and wife Tara, Boone Pollard, Brad Pollardand wife Naomi, Audry Foster, Candace Pollard and Hannah Pollard; great-grandchildren Brooklynne Ivans, Holden Foster, and Mazie Pollard.
