Mr. Carpenter, 85, died on November 9, 2023 in Roswell, New Mexico.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

C A was born on September 4, 1938 in Dexter, New Mexico; the son of Chester Arthur Carpenter and Lorene Barton Carpenter. He was a longtime resident of the Artesia area.

In January of 1967 he was married to Janice Horton at First Baptist Church in Artesia. She preceded him in death in July 2016.

When he was younger he worked as a cowboy on several ranches in the Guadalupes. He enjoyed target shooting, cars and just driving around, and spending time at family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Leroy Carpenter, Bill Carpenter, Elwood Carpenter, Dan Carpenter, Savannah Derrick, and Day Hodge.

He is survived by sisters Bonnie Derrick and Idell Burnett; brothers-in-law Morris Horton and Blake Horton; and also by 27 nieces and nephews.
