Billy Spencer

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Woodbine Cemetery for Billy Burch Spencer of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Spencer, 87, died February 8, 2019 at Carlsbad, NM.

Ty Houghtaling will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening and Son Mortuary.

Billy was born July 22, 1931 in Hewins, Kansas to John Spencer and Ines Butler Spencer.

He came to Artesia in 1939 from Kansas. On October 2, 1987 he was married to Bettie King in Artesia. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2018.

Billy was a pipefitter and crane operator for Navajo Refining for 39 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking and swedish weaving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bonnie Murphy and a daughter-in-law Carolyn Spencer.

He is survived by his sons Randy Spencer and wife Kris of Artesia, and David Spencer of Artesia; daughters Kathy Spencer and Tracie Cronk of Waco, Texas; step-daughters Diane Schultz and husband Frank of Arlington, Texas, and Vicki Wilburn and husband Garlyn of China Spring, Texas; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
