Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 30, 1999, at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, N.M. for longtime Artesia resident Willie Edna Mays of Roswell, New Mexico. Mrs. Mays died Tuesday, April 27, 1999 in Roswell. Rev. Palmer Clark will officiate at the services. Mrs. Mays was born October 15, 1919; the daughter of Barney Elbert Green and Lucille Rushing. She came to Artesia in 1937 from East Grand Plains, N.M. On September 2, 1940 she was married to Don 0rville Mays in Artesia. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in business. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Artesia; and the B.P.O.E. Does. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Harold Green. Survivors include her husband Don Mays of the family home; a son Barney Mays and wife Mary of Roswell; a daughter Ginger Lord and husband Dick of San Antonio, Texas; a brother Barney E. Green, Jr. of Hagerman, N.M.; sisters Christine Tomlinson of Lubbock, Texas, Maxine Goodell of Roswell, Tommie Pirtle of Granbury, Texas and Jodie Keyes of Ruidoso, N.M.; granddaughters Joy Fuhrmann and husband Triple and Jill Burke and husband Bobby all of San Antonio, Traci Mays of Alexandria, Va. and Ginger Mays of Amarillo, Texas; and great-granddaughters Jillian Fuhrmann and Jenna Belle Fuhrmann.
