Patricia Ann Claburn, 82, was born August 31, 1940 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Hugh and Eunice King Norwood. She was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 22, 2023 in Artesia, New Mexico surrounded by her family.
Pat graduated from Artesia High School and remained a loyal Bulldog fan all her life. You rarely saw her that she wasn't wearing or carrying something orange, her favorite color. She loved all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and was very proud of all of them. She was lovingly referred to as Gma.
After graduation, Pat married Jerry Tidwell. They had three sons together. She later married Charles Claburn. They had one son. During these years she became forever friends with Dixie and Doyle Pounds. Their children grew up together and they quickly became family.
Pat retired from PNM Gas Company after working in customer service for 31 years. She loved her time there and made several lifelong friends. Joyce Lewis and Pat Bouldon were two of these friends. They enjoyed visiting, eating out and line dancing when Gma's health allowed it. Of course orange boots were involved!
In her later years Pat was introduced to Emily Weston through a mutual friend. They quickly became a dynamic duo, enjoying one another's company. She also considered John Mezger a special friend. She met him while volunteering at Lakeview Christian Home on Sundays.
Our family would like to thank the special ladies who took care of our precious Gma. Gloria and Lupe, thank you both so much for the love and care you showed in keeping her happy and comfortable.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son James Andy Tidwell, and a great-grandson Cy James Palmer.
She is survived by her children Jerry and Rhonda Tidwell of Artesia, Don and Sandi Tidwell of Artesia, Opal Tidwell of Portales, and Allen and Heather Claburn of Ozona, Texas. 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who made her smile by simply entering the room. She is also survived by her aunt Nona King of Albuquerque, NM, 2 nieces and a nephew.
The family will receive friends Thursday May 25th from 4 to 6 pm at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held on Friday May 26th at 10 am at Terpening & Son Mortuary with Dwayne Pounds officiating. Burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park will follow. Pallbearers are her grandsons: Ryan Tidwell, Seth Tidwell, Tyler Finch, Elijah Finch, Scott Tidwell, Braxten Claburn and Braden Claburn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales or a charity of your choice in her honor.
