Julie, as she preferred to be called, was born November 5, 1932, in the small copper mining town of Alamo, Nevada. Her parents were Ray Kingsland and Edith Knight Kingsland. By trade Julie was a banker. She worked at a bank in Farmington, N.M. for several years, In the early 60's she and Edith moved to Artesia. Julie went to work for First National Bank in Artesia as a bookkeeper. Many in Artesia will remember the old double post NCR machines before the era of the computer. Later she managed loan records and collateral files in the Bank's loan vault. Julie retired in the early 90's and enjoyed the peace and solitude of her later years. One of her great passions was baseball. It was not unusual for her to take a week of vacation every year to stay home and watch the World Series beginning to end on TV. Julie was a member of the LDS church.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her brother in law, Jerry Clay of Springville, UT; two nephews Jerald Paul Clay of Taylorsville, UT and David Lynn Clay of Salt Lake, UT; seven grand nephews and 2 grand nieces, all of which were near and dear to Julie.
