Johnny Payne

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Terpening & Son Mortuary for Johnny Payne of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Payne, 73, died June 8, 2019 at Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room.

Pastor Ty Houghtaling will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny's grandsons Thomas Bozada Jr, Paul Payne Jr, Michael Payne, James Garrison, Raymond Vigar, and Aaron Payne.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Johnny was born October 27, 1945 in Tom Green County, Texas, the son of Floyd Carl Payne and Elizabeth (James) Payne - Smith.

On May 15, 1965 he was married to Judy Kathleen Morris, his soul mate of 54 years. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2018.

He is survived by his three children, Melanie (Thomas) Bozada of Champaign, IL, Paul (Norma) Payne of El Paso, TX, Melinda (Ronnie) Garrison of Artesia; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters in law Charlotte Morris (John A.) Mathis, Paula Jean Morris Roberts, and Brother In law Robert C. "Bud" (Sallie) Morris. Johnny loved his family more than anything.
