Gary Fanning Sr.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, October 14, at First Baptist Church for Gary Fanning Sr. of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Fanning, 81, died Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Galen Isaacs and David Grousnick will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Mathis, Jett Pilley, Jeffrey Fanning, Jerry Donald Fanning, Jed Fanning, and Joe Dee Fanning.

Gary was born on August 14, 1938 in Carlsbad, N.M.; the son of Donald E. Fanning and Kathryn Lankford Fanning. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. He spent his life farming and ranching.

Gary enjoyed dancing, horseback riding, and socializing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Johnny Fanning.

Survivors include his son Gary Fanning Jr. and wife Mary of Artesia; a daughter Kathy Stamps and husband Steve of Artesia; a brother Jerry Fanning and wife Lela of Artesia; grandchildren Jeffrey Fanning and Kelsey Fanning.
