Billy Troublefield

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Hagerman Cemetery for Billy Weldon Troublefield of Hagerman.

Troublefield, 84, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Billy was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Hagerman, the son of Virgil and Edna (Worley) Troublefield. He was a longtime resident of Artesia and Hagerman.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

On Jan. 20, 1957, he married Oma Shands in Zaragoza, Mexico.

Billy worked in the potash mines and was an independent hay hauler for many years, also working for Brown & Root in Houston, Texas, in the copper mines of Arizona, and for the Carlsbad Irrigation District, from which he retired.

He was a longtime member of Cornerstone Fellowship.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, and spending time in the mountains. He also enjoyed building yucca furniture, playing cards with his brothers, and hanging out with friends in Hagerman. He was an avid Artesia Bulldog and Dallas Cowboy fan and rarely missed a Bulldog football, basketball or baseball game. He enjoyed taking care of his horses and working in his vegetable garden, and he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include children Michele Green of Artesia, Edie Troublefield of Texas, Teresa Lemon of Artesia, Shaun Troublefield of Texas, and Carla Juarez of Hagerman; siblings Peggy Wilson of Texas, Ron Troublefield of Carlsbad, Larry Troublefield Sr. of Lakewood, Lynn Troublefield of Artesia, and Glen Troublefield of California; daughter-in-law Angela Troublefield of Roswell; grandchildren Brienne Green, Maegan Lemon, Devin Coor, Kristin Jenkins, Erica Hogan, Chance Troublefield, Tristen Troublefield, Sarah Juarez, and Faren Juarez; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Troublefield, on Dec. 31, 2001; son Jacky Troublefield; his parents; and brother Don Troublefield.
