On June 26, 2018, Lois Jean Weddle passed from this life into the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ. Jean was born to Harold Eugene Bishop and Ethel Mae Bishop, née McGrew in Mesa, AZ on January 4, 1944. When she was a small child, the family briefly lived in Missouri and then moved to Alamogordo, NM. In 1973 she married William (Billy) Weddle and soon moved to Hobbs, NM.

Jean was a loving mother and homemaker. She was an accomplished artist, seamstress, and carpenter, Her talents and determination enabled her to create a beautiful home for her family. She could take two pennies and squeeze them together to make a dime. She was active in her churches and community. She taught night art classes. She was active in a quilting club and women’s prayer group. She was also an elementary teacher at Living Waters Christian School for 13 years. She was a dedicated, long-term member of Hobbs First Assembly of God Church, and then Weed House of Prayer after she and Billy moved to Ehart Canyon near Weed, NM in 1996.

Jean always had a smile on her face, never complaining about her MS. She never lost her faith even when she was suffering. She was a great teacher of what it means to love, and she guided her children to the salvation of Jesus Christ. She was not only an exemplary mother, but also a best friend and true companion offering great lessons for life. It was because of all these, plus many, many more wonderful traits she possessed that made it an honor and a privilege for those who cared for her in her final journey into Heaven.

Jean was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband Billy Weddle, her only sister Fern Eckenberg, her daughter Rowena (Rae) Aaron and husband Ken, son Jesse Tanner and wife Kimberly, son Justin Weddle and wife Lachrisha (Chris) Swafford, grandchildren Winter Tanner, Christopher Shane Tanner, Kaitlyn Weddle, Emily Weddle, great-grandchildren Bailey Baker, Tyler Baker, Ryan Tanner, and Maximus Tanner.

Services will be held on Saturday June 30th at 3:00 PM at the old gymnasium in Weed NM. Burial will follow at the family’s cemetery in Ehart Canyon. Dear Family, I am so sorry for your loss Gods Speed on healing you heart. I know my momma and your momma, Rowena and Jesse met at those pearly gates, and took off running and jumping doing all those things they couldn’t do here on earth with no more pain and I’d bet they were so happy to finally get to visit like they did in those happy days way back when they could both walk and they did so much giggling!
Billy I’m truly sorry I can’t be there but know I am there in spirit.
    God Bless You All.
