Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at West Main Baptist Church for Jaylon Henry Earl of Artesia, New Mexico.

Jaylon Earl, 14, died April 27, 2019 at his home in Artesia.

Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial to follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hugo Chavez, Jackson Guy, Reggie Guy, Dante Freeman, Justin Harrison, and Andre Earl. Honorary pallbearers will be Nemicio Hernandez, Nehemiah Hernandez, Oscar Aguilera, Rodney Mills, Zach Lara, Rodney Earl, Cole Kinnibrugh, Aaron Bishop, Clarence Sentell Jr., and Dwayne Oliver.

Jaylon was born July 6, 2004 in Carlsbad N.M., the son of Jarrod and Erin (Elrod) Earl. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

Jaylon was a kind soul with a big heart, but because of his shy nature only those closest to him saw him for who he truly was. He had a smile that could light up the room and an infectious laugh. He was sweet and loyal and a fierce protector of his siblings, cousins, and friends. Jaylon enjoyed hunting and hiking around the family ranch, playing video games, hanging out with his friends and cousins, spending time with his sister, and playing with his baby brother.

Survivors include his parents, Jarrod and Erin Earl of the family home; sister Kirsten Elrod-Gabaldon; brothers Austin and Kingston Earl; grandmothers Esther Kay Earl and the late Henry Earl, and Debbie Chavez and husband Joe; grandfather Deryl Elrod and wife Nancy; aunts Staci Guy and husband Reggie, Jacqueline Robinson and husband Roosevelt of Houston, TX, and Debra Earl; uncles Raynard Earl and Kenneth Earl; Jackson Guy, Mollie Guy, R.C. and Mary Alice Perry, Jamar Dickey, Lance Earl, Devin Haynes, Vanessa Chavez, Gabriel Chavez, Sergio Chavez, Ramiro Frescas, and Adriana Frescas, and numerous cousins and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by Mat Elrod, Joe Lynn Harrison, Wayne Bedingfield, Henry Earl, Sandra Odum Bailey, James & Eula Odum, and Marian & James Gray.

Services will be streaming live at westmain.net.

To the Family, so sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Jaylon has the prospect of being resurrected, healthy (in the flesh), to Paradise Earth just as Jehovah God has promised. In fact , the vast majority will enjoy everlasting life right here on earth as God had intended from the beginning. God's Kingdom will do this under the rule of Jesus Christ. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss of Jaylon. It really saddens me to mourn the loss of someone so young. Very few are ever prepared for the death of a loved one. Words cannot convey the feelings of pain and heartache that come from losing someone you love. May the Earl family find true peace and comfort from the giver of life Jehovah God who knows how you feel. Jesus promises along with our Heavenly Father Jehovah will reunite us with Jaylon again and all those who have fallen asleep in death by means of an earthly resurrection found at John 5:28, 29, and death will be eliminated forever found at  Revelations 21:4. Truly, what a glorious and almost unbelievable day that will be! It's a reality though for God cannot lie!

I am terribly sorry for your loss! My condolences go out to the entire family. Please know that just as you grieve, our loving Heavenly Father does as well. In fact, he even calls death his "enemy" and promises that in due time it will be done away with permanently (1 Corinthians 15:26). Although we do have to wait patiently for that day, I hope it reassures you to know that God promises in his Holy Word that we can see our dead loved ones again and they will be raised up and live again right here on the earth (John 5:28,29). Take care. May God comfort you and give you strength to cope during this tragic time.
