Glynn Dockray Tunnell- Kreamer, 97, passed from this world on March 20, 2019 in Artesia, New Mexico.

Glynn was born August 14,1921 in Mayhill, N.M., the daughter of Cleve and Cressie Arthur Dockray. She was very proud of the fact that her family were some of the original pioneers of the Mayhill area arriving by wagon train in 1884.

Glynn attended school in Mayhill and Cloudcroft graduating Valedictorian of her class at Cloudcroft High School in 1938.

As a young woman she worked as a substitute teacher in the area. She met Sankston (Sank) Stone Tunnell and they were married in High Rolls, N.M. on May 8,1943. They had 52 great years together.

Sank and Glynn welcomed two children to their home. Sharon Lynette was born May 4, 1949 and Arthur Dockray born Feb. 25, 1951. In 1949 the family moved from the mountains to Artesia where they continued teaching and Glynn also furthered her education in the summer time. She obtained her degree from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N. M. and taught art and social studies for 28 years.

Glynn was a very religious person growing up in the Church of Christ. After her marriage to Sank they were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Artesia where she taught Sunday school for 10 years. After Sank’s death she attended First Baptist Church in Artesia for a while and at the time of her passing she had become once again a member of the Church of Christ attending Hermosa Street in Artesia. No matter where she attended, she was a woman who lived her faith.

Glynn’s hobbies included gardening and art. The family had a cabin on the old family homestead in Mayhill and she spent many hours in the summer growing a wonderful garden and painting scenes from the mountains she loved.

Sank preceded her in death June 23, 1995. On January 9, 1999, Glynn married long time friend Gilbert L. Kreamer in Artesia, N. M. At that time she welcomed into her family his adult children: Robert Kreamer (Susan) and family of Spokane, Wa., Bill Kreamer (Rita) of Newark, NJ, and Melinda Hand (Jimmy) of Artesia, NM. Gilbert preceded her in death April 14, 2006.

Glynn was a long-standing member of the Order of Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron in 1975. She was one of the oldest members in the state.

Glynn was preceded in death by her parents Cleve and Cressie Arthur Dockray, a brother Arthur C. Dockray, a sister Lanelle Potter, and her husbands Sank Tunnell and Gilbert Kreamer.

She is survived by a sister Mable Hooten of Kerman, Ca., her daughter Sharon Thomas of Artesia, her son Arthur D. Tunnell (Diane) of Clovis, N.M. Grandchildren: Ronny Thomas of Beaverton, Or., Sarah Thomas, of Artesia, Stephen Tunnell of Ridgecrest, Ca., and Hannah Tunnell of Clovis, N.M.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Kodey, and Aryonna Thomas and Brian Madrid all of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nephews and nieces.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25 at Woodbine Cemetery, conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star. Pallbearers will be Benny Montoya, Bobby Moberly, Dwayne Brown, Gary Conklin, Stephen Tunnell, Bill Joy, Ridge Watson and Ed Tebow. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hermosa Church of Christ, conducted by Roby Zumwalt and Larry Young.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 24 at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Water Well Project/ Ethopia Mission/ in Care of Hermosa Church of Christ, 2512 W.
