William was born March 28, 1949 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Bill and Nellie (Revis) Heady. He was the fifth of nine children. He primarily grew up in Ruidoso,N.M. but moved to Artesia after leaving the military where he served in the U.S. Army for two years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Bill and Nellie Heady of Hope NM and one sister.

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Juanita Heady whom he married on Aug 10th 1973.
