† The Terpening family has been serving the Artesia area since Calvin Terpening became manager of Paulin Funeral Home in 1954. He later purchased the firm and the name was changed to Terpening-Paulin Mortuary.

 His son Jerry joined him in business in 1975 and the name was changed to Terpening & Son Mortuary. They worked together until Calvin’s retirement in 1988. Hecontinued as president of the company until his death in 1999.
